| Cyclones are big powerful storms with lots of rain and wind. We get thrashed by them from time to time. In the early 1960s we had one wipe out all our buildings and community. People knew it was coming and headed inland and were saved. Our people believe such storms are made by the rainbow serpent. The rainbow serpent is not just the rainbow you see in the sky. It is the source of all creation. He travels through country vomiting all life. He is around us all the time in the tides, in the weather in the land itself. We are connected to him all the time. |
