Mudskippers are amphibious fish that live in the swamps and on the mud flats. They can climb, walk and skip about out of water.

Christine Yantumba has used ghost net, recycled cable, fish floats and twine to make her Mudskipper. Using ghost net in this way is helping raise awareness, both nationally and internationally, of the immense environmental impact of these nets on our oceans.

The Gulf of Carpentaria is a hotspot for ghost net because it is a fertile fishing ground for small and large - scale fishing enterprises. These nets drift in the ocean, trapping and killing sea life. Most of the ghost net found on Australian coasts come from Thai, Vietnamese, South Korean and Chinese boats operating illegally in the Arafura Sea and Timorese Sea.
