Bob Holroyd and Rosina Lowdown mother to Rosie Lowdon the artist who made the white dog went out hunting one morning. Bob spotted a wallaby and got his spear and woomera ready. The wallaby started to transform into a white dog. The woman was scared. The dog moved off into the scrub. Bob and the Rosina returned to camp. They told their story to the others back at camp but no one had ever seen or heard of the white dog. When Bob returned to the settlement at Edward River/Pormpuraaw he asked all around, both Thaayorre and Mungkan sides, if anyone had ever seen the white dog. No one had. There is a song of the white dog. It was sung when Rosie Lowdown’s father died. |
