A brolga is a big bush bird with red feathers on his head. He is long and skinny and can jump high and spin and dance. Many people have this bird as a totem. That is to say he is their ancestor. They are connected through time and country. 'Minh Nampi' is my Thaayorre language word for an emu. This is my totem. In the old days we would hunt them. Now not so much. Whenever we see one we are happy. It is part of us. |
