| Mayi Pianh is our Kugu language word for white waterlilies. This plant grows during the wet season. Our salt pans and flood plains fill with water. A dry desert like environment becomes a rich wetland filled with white and purple waterlilies. This plant is beautiful to look at. In the old days this was an important food source for our old people. The roots, seeds and inner stem are all good to eat. The roots are baked int an earth oven. The rains bring the flower and renew life. |
