Mundha or shovel nose ray is a type of shark. It is large power fish that lives in our waters. They like to hunt skimming close to the sea floor and sensing pray buried in the sand. We catch this fish and cook it in the coals of our fires. We like to mince the meat and shape it into balls. Our old people would carry this food source in land when they traveled eating a little bit at a time. Grieving people are not allowed to eat it. We have a dance for him where we imitate the sound and swimming motion it makes. This fish is a big totem for many of our people. Totems are our ancestors. When we die we become our totems.
