"This print tells the story about my old people. In the old days these three fish: shovel nose ray, sawfish and hammerhead shark were very important to our people. They were the totems that belonged to my Great, Great Grandmother and grandfather. These fish were very important survival foods. We could bake them in an earth oven. We would take their cooked flesh and mince it into a ball. This ball of meat would be carried in a dilly bag for many days. This was important when heading in land away from the coast. The round circles in my print represent the mince balls. When baking the fish we wrap it in tea tree bark and use a vine that grows on the beach to tie it up in a bundle. The vine in my print is the vine we use to tie tree bark."
