We call the echidna Minh Kirk-Pik in our Thaayorre language. We see this animal mostly inland. Our old people used to eat them. Now a days they are hard to find. In our cultural way only initiated people can eat it. The needles are used for spear throngs. Children are forbidden to eat it. It is poison to them. When al the animals were once human this one got speared many times. This is how he got his quills. |
