Nonda Plums is 'May Po'al' in Wik Mungkan language. We find them in the bush from a tree & we eat the yellow fruit. When it becomes dry we call this 'may ow' and we pound it and put it in water, in a bark dish, and it becomes milky and we drink it by squeezing it. May ow is good for sick to people to have & breastfeeding mothers. I remember watching my mum make this in Aurukun for her grandchildren. |
