Biography

Beverly Holroyd is the youngest daughter of Jeannie Holroyd. She is the current president of the Pormpuraaw Art & Culture Centre Incorporated. Both her sisters and mother are talented artists working at our centre. Beverly works in painting and printing. She is ready to give ghost net sculpture a go and we look forward to seeing what she comes up with. Beverly has exhibited at the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair, Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and at Pormpuraaw gallery. She says she loves making art. It makes her feel calm and peaceful. Beverly is Pormpuraaw coordinator of "RAATSICC' which stands for remote area aboriginal Torres strait islander child care. This is an important organisation assisting families and children in or community. Beverly used to go walk about on foot with her mother and father. They would teach them bush skills and important stories. Now she is sharing this knowledge with young son.
