Our people used to travel with their clan to get to the Mission to get rations.  They had to cross crocodile infested rivers.  Sometimes people would get bitten or taken. The crocodiles took them and dragged them under like a submarine and drown them. Other people would see it and go back on tell the family. The ghost or spirit of the man would come back and haunt the village.  He would be very scary and frighten everyone. His eyes were big and red. People hid in their humpies and the spirit would make a noise and damage the humpies.  The spirit could stay for months.  Sometimes whole communities would give up and move their camp far away.  Our fathers told us these stories so we would learn to be careful. Today we teach our children and grandchildren about the Crocodile Spirit Man. As told by Simon Norman. This piece is designed as a wearable piece as depicted by one of the artists but it can also be hung from a ceiling.
