| My kangaroo sculpture celebrates this important totem for our people. We have small wallabies in Pormpuraaw. One has to travel inland to freshwater to find a big kanagroo. Our old people would hunt them by having people start large fires driving them to escape the flames. Menwould be hiding behind hides made of brush with their spears waiting for them. They are a great food source and important to survival. When you watch them it is like watching a human being. Their eyes and ears have facial expressions. It is like you can see them thinking.
