| 'Minha Chokalong' is my Kugu language name for bush turkey. This bird is an important totem for my people. It is a ground bird that runs really fast and can fly when it needs to. Many birds work together and build huge nests out of gravel and dirt. Before the wet season is the time to dig up their eggs. The eggs and bird make for good eating. We see this bird in the inland scrub. |
