Ngaka Tempo means big waves in our language. This print tells the story about a big cyclone that hit here in 1964. It was a long time ago but our old people still remember it. It took out the whole town. Most people knew it was coming so they headed inland and were safe. Some got washed out to sea and had to be rescued. We hope nothing like that ever happens again. |
