I am a Kugu women. My home country is Pormpuraaw and North. In the old days people lived in a simple way. The missionaries came here in the early 1970's. They brought the church and bible. They brought schools and the English Language. It was a good place to grow up. Old men still walked around with spear and boomerang. The were proud of who they were. I miss those old days. So much has changed in my life time. |
