The rainbow lorikeet is my totem. In my Kugu language we call the rainbow lorikeet 'minha pimba'. There are lots of them here after the wet season. They are so colourful and bright. The rainbow gives them their colours. When I see my totem I feel good inside and know my ancestor is there looking after me. Black Cockatoos are large birds that live inland of Pormpuraaw. Sometimes we see them on the coast but mostly they are inland. They always fly in a flock of around 12 birds. These birds are also an important tote for our people.
