Dilly Bags are very important to our country. A dilly bag takes weeks to prepare. We gather the palm frond from a cabbage palm tree. We separate it till we get the inner most strands. Then we let it dry die it role the strands on the thigh and then weave it by hand with no loom. My mother used to make dilly bags. We use them for Bush Tucker - which is term we use for bush food. There is a lot to eat out there. We still prefer bush food to food we get in the shop. I made this dilly bag from ghost net to recycle illegal fishing nets that wash up on our shores and cause damage to sea life.
